Only four: Prunes, agar, apple juice and water.  The corn starch is for dusting.  Prunies® contain no: cholesterol, sodium, fat or added sugar.

Ingredients are sourced globally, with the majority of the prunes coming from California.  Apple Juice is a blend of sources, with the US being one. Agar, our gelatin substitute, is a tasteless seaweed derived powder. Current batches include a blend of Agar coming from Morocco, China and Chile.

Prunies® is 100% made in the USA.

Prunies® ingredients are naturally gluten and allergen free (no dairy, no nuts, no peanuts, no soy), as well as vegan.  We do not do separate testing for allergens, nor do we make official claims on our packaging. This is something that we may pursue in the future.

Currently, we are using a combination of organic and non-organic certified ingredients; we are working on moving as close to 100% organic as possible.

Although the ingredients in Prunies® do not contain any of the major allergens, the facility we use to produce Prunies® is not an allergen-free facility and we do not do testing to assure 100% allergen free products.

It’s just cornstarch!  We lightly dust the candy with cornstarch so that you do not get sticky fingers and so the pieces don’t stick together.  Sometimes by the time it gets to you, the cornstarch has already been absorbed.

Eating Prunies®

Although Prunies® were developed to address travel-related…issues (hence the to-go pack), you can of course enjoy the natural benefits whenever you need to!  Prunies® work with your natural digestion processes, so you are unlikely to experience the “urgency” problems you may have with stimulant laxatives.  The earlier in your travels you consume, even prior to arrival, the faster you will likely return to your standard rhythms.  I eat them the day before, during the flight to my destination or during the first activity – as a snack during a hike or dessert after a meal.

For Prunies® Jr., the answer to this will largely depend on the rhythm's of your child, and may require some trial.  How about first as an after dinner dessert?

Prunies® are mellow tasting (a little sweet, a little tart) and have the texture somewhere in between a gummy candy and a soft fruit chew.  They won’t stick to your teeth or leave you with sticky hands.  They aren’t pretty, but they taste good, are easy to pack and are effective.

Yes!  Prunies® are a simple, natural and healthy snack with no added sugar.  We think you will enjoy the flavor and texture even if you are not experiencing system disruption. Many of our customers are regular!

If your primarily goal is to leverage the, ahem, effectiveness of Prunies® , we recommend eating the full serving size described on the package in one sitting for adults.  Because Prunies® products are made with natural ingredients with no preservatives or additives, once opened, the texture of the candy may be impacted and you may find it less than optimal to enjoy. When sealed, we recommend you consume the bag within the “best by” date on the package for the best experience.

If you have the single serve adult bag, go ahead and eat the whole thing!  We designed Prunies® to be as close to the whole foods as possible; no shortcuts!  We created a very grown-up, not super-sweet candy so that you can easily and happily eat all 50 grams (which is the same as most candy bars and many gummy candies – it’s actually bit less than a serving of Skittles and half the calories).  We bet you won’t have a problem.

Our Prunies® Jr. bulk bags contain approximately 6 servings (about 17 pieces per serving) for kids. Please check with your pediatrician to ensure Prunies® Jr. is a good option for your child.

Kids and adults: don’t forget to hydrate!

Prunes are a natural laxative and contain both fiber and sorbitol.  One serving of Prunies® contains the equivalent of one serving of prunes (which is four to five prunes for adults). This is the average consumption for adult results – for you, it may be more or less (which is why we went with resealable bags!). For kids, there is no FDA recommendation of prunes per day. We developed Prunies® Jr. after consulting with pediatricians, we went with approximately 1/3 the adult serving, and created a resealable bulk bag so that parents could adjust based on each individual child.  It is perfectly safe to consume two to three servings of prunes per day, however everyone’s biology is different – start with one serving a day and go from there.

Please note that Prunies® Jr. is intended for children 2+ years and should only be given to children that are seated, supervised and accustomed to eating chewy and solid foods.

General

We strive to bring you an effective and tasty product, but also intend to have the least negative environmental impact as possible.  Currently, our packaging and labels are biodegradable/compostable.  Please note that compostable materials are not perfect and may take longer than 90 days to fully break down.  However, we prefer eventual decomposition to permanent landfill.  Most single use “recyclable” packaging you see out there is typically just…garbage.  Technically, they could be recyclable, but because there are multiple layers (i.e. paper, plastic or metallic coating), and consumers are not separating these elements (or cleaning out the food waste) prior to throwing out, the packages don’t get recycled.  Additionally, as our product was designed for to take on the go, it is hard to predict if you will be near a recycling receptacle when throwing out the packaging.  If you have any ideas to do better, we are all ears!

Made in the USA!  Prunies® are currently produced in the South’s “Lowcountry,” Walterboro, SC. Which is a town in between Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC.  It’s a quirky little town known for antiquing.
